Forma Automotive to Sequence Truck Beds to the San Antonio Toyota Assembly Plant Using Insequence Solutions

Sequential Part Delivery executed with error proofed precision and accuracy. Forma Automotive will sequence Tacoma truck beds for Toyota in San Antonio, Texas. This “in-line” facility will be utilizing Insequence’s Sequential Part Delivery (SPD) software.

The new minority owned Forma Automotive is a Tier 1 supplier to Toyota located in plant at the Toyota Assembly Plant in San Antonio, Texas. Insequence, suppliers of just-in-sequence, MES, SCADA, and Inventory Management solutions, will be partaking in Forma Automotive’s first project.

Sequencing, or producing and shipping parts in the right sequence at the right time, is becoming an increasingly popular process. For many OEMS, it has become a new business standard. The process of sequential part delivery allows materials to arrive to an assembly plant within hours of use. This reduces inventory levels for both the supplier and the OEM.

Forma Automotive will utilize Insequence’s SPD Pro Host module, which supports communication between the supplier and OEM. SPD Pro will receive and validate the demand from Toyota before sending sequencing requirements to the line. In this case, Forma Automotive will be receiving the GALC broadcast. The applications will then communicate with each other in a specific order to accomplish a smooth sequencing and shipping process. The process includes printing a pick sheet containing items that need to be picked, packed, and then shipped in sequential order to Toyota.

This process of shipping commodities in sequence, just-in-sequence, is associated with high risks to operations. Due to this risk, the need for suppliers to find solutions that provide high levels of error proofing is essential. This helps supplier ensure that materials reach the OEM assembly plant in the exact order and as called for. Insequence’s SPD Pro incorporate various methods to validate the process is error free.
