Plastic Omnium to Utilize Insequence Solutions in Duncan, SC Facility

Plastic Omnium to Utilize Insequence Solutions for Sequential Part Delivery in their Duncan, South Carolina Facility.

Plastic Omnium will sequence parts to BMW using a special Pick to Light Process for error proofing.

Insequence Corporation will be supplying Plastic Omnium’s Duncan, South Carolina facility with their SPD Pro software sequencing system. This facility will use the software to  supply parts to the BMW Spartanburg Assembly Plant. Plastic Omnium will be using a Pick to Light process, within Insequence’s Manufacturing Rack Loading (MRL) software, for error proofing, which allows for increased time efficiency.

The Manufacturing rack loading (MRL) software identifies and dictates which racks and slot positions parts belong in. The module then verifies parts and racks via scan verification and prints labels accordingly. This ensure that parts loaded in the correct sequence. Plastic Omnium has chosen to use an option feature of MRL which is a process know as Pick to Light.

The Pick to Light process creates ease in pick and pack situations. Since an operator does not need to see a screen in order to pick the correct parts. Rather lights indicate the parts to pick and put on a rack. This saves time in that the operator does not have to walk back and forth between the screen and the actual picking area. The picker (operator) simply picks the parts indicated by the pick lights. After the correct parts have been pick, the corresponding lights will turn off. Then a new set of lights come on and the operator will begin picking parts for the next container or rack to fill. When a rack is filled the picker can attach a rack sequence label to the container.

A Put-to-Light system for replenishing stock will be supplied by Insequence in addition to the Pick-to-Light system.
