Plastic Omnium has once again selected Insequence Corporation to provide their Anderson, South Carolina facility with the five Insequence SPD Pro software modules collectively referred to as the SPD Pro Sequencing System.
Sequential Parts Delivery (SPD), or producing and shipping parts in the right sequence at the right time, is becoming a basic business requirement. Due to its popularity, for many OEMS, it has become a new business standard. The process of sequential part delivery allows materials to arrive to an assembly plant within hours of use. This reduces inventory levels for both the supplier and the OEM.
SPD Pro
Plastic Omnium will have the five modules that collectively perform the sequencing process installed. Beginning with the SPD Pro host module, which receives and processes broadcasts. The Host also translates or parses this information so that it may be usable by the SPD Pro system. Following the Host module, comes Load Manager. Load Manager, organizes the information from the Host into queues. These queues are then automatically made available to the next module, Manufacturing Rack Loading (MRL). At this point, the operator may begin picking or manufacturing.
The Manufacturing Rack Loading (MRL) software identifies and dictates which racks and slot positions parts belong in, post assembly line. This modules verifies parts and racks via a scan and then prints labels accordingly. The last two modules in the sequential process are for verification and shipping purposes, the Manufacturing Rack Audit (MRA) and Shipping (BOL) modules.
Manufacturing Rack Audit (MRA) performs secondary audits of fully loaded racks prior to shipment via a scan providing 100% accuracy in the shipment of product. The final module, BOL, verifies racks are in the correct sequence for shipping. A BOL, Bill of Lading, is printed once racks have been verified and the bill is posted.
