Autoneum to use Insequence Solutions for sequencing to Volvo in their Aiken, South Carolina facility.
Insequence is providing their software SPD Pro for Autoneum to supply carpets in sequence to Volvo.
Autoneum located in Aiken, South Carolina will be using Insequence’s SPD Pro to sequence carpets to Volvo. Autoneum is a global leader of acoustic and thermal management with has 55 production facilities worldwide and over 12,000 employees. This will be the first project they use Insequence’s solution.
SPD Pro will receive and validate the demand from Volvo before sending sequencing requirements to the line. The applications will then communicate with each other in a specific order to accomplish a smooth sequencing and shipping process.
Volvo provides cars, trucks, buses, construction equipment and other vehicles to consumers. Their assembly plant in South Carolina is their first in the U.S. and is expected to produce vehicles by late 2018.
The “Host”: Standard OEM Interfaces
Original Equipment Manufacturers or OEMs, each have their own individual standards for communicating demand to suppliers. Due to the uniqueness of each OEM Insequence works with, they develop a standard communication interface at no charge to their client. Since this is the first time Insequence has a client working with Volvo, a new interface was developed.
This OEM interface called the Host, allows Insequence SPD Pro to be a standard suite of software. The Host translates the OEM demand into a standard language for the remaining software modules to use. In turn, this also reduces the need for costly customization often found in supply chain software.
