Innovation through Quality

People often talk about innovation and disruption as being major “game changers”.

In reality, innovation can occur from simple ideas that can be easily implemented to improve efficiency, quality or service. In turn, these ideas do not always require much investment, time or resources. However, innovation can happen at the least likely time – a type of “Eureka” moment that disrupts an industry. Many times, this disruption leads to new market demand or additional value.

a light bulb lit in a row of lights to represent innovation through qualityWithin the automotive industry, many people – especially consumers – turn to new technology, models, and designs as being truly innovative. That may be the case, but often those examples of innovation are temporary. Whereas the improvements made behind-the-scenes creating that vehicle, the processes placed to improve quality, can drive industry change.

For example, new platforms like electric vehicles are innovative and disruptive at the same time. While this segment of the industry is still in a developmental stage, it is already causing transformation to take root. From new advancements in technology to improved manufacturing processes, there is still work being done to perfect EVs. It is the little things in these advancements – and sometimes incremental things – that fuel further innovation.
