Insequence Thought Leadership: Automotive Industry Manufacturing Betterment
Bite-Size Bytes Of Insequence Insights
In 2024 Insequence software solutions are running in hundreds of facilities across the Americas and Europe. We’re proud to point out that includes facilities operated by our original customer, who we began working with back in 1996. Ever since that fortuitous partnership we’ve steadily grown to become a leading provider of manufacturing and logistics software, supporting many of the world’s largest automotive suppliers for more than 20 different automotive OEMs.
Originally founded on April 2, 1996 by Keith Delk and Tony Westbrook, Insequence has been providing powerfully effective solutions for 28 years. Beginning as Delk/Westbrook Technologies (DWT), the company focused on supplying the best technology services and products to the manufacturing industry. Within the same year as their founding, DWT received a request to create a custom sequencing application for an automotive supplier. Thanks to that successful implementation, Delk and Westbrook demonstrated to the supplier and OEM involved that their software was effective and reliable. Thus, the pioneering advent of sequencing software began.
For the first few years, Westbrook ran support for their new automotive customer while Delk worked with their previously established clients. During this time, the development of their supplier software solutions continued. However, by 1998, the number of automotive customers had grown so substantially, the company adapted themselves to the automotive industry exclusively. The adaptation not only included focusing on sequencing software, but changes to customer support and a new design for workstations. By 2000, eight facilities were utilizing their solutions.
Next came the development of SPD Pro, the company’s turnkey integrated suite of software modules that handles Sequencing, MES, SCADA/MEM, Inventory, Data Management and Network Visualization.
In 2015 we opened our office in the United Kingdom to better support our European-based suppliers and OEMs.
Today we understand that the automotive supply chain is undergoing a significant transformation due to the burgeoning adoption of Industry 4.0 principles. The integration of digital technologies is revolutionizing production processes, improving supply chain management and quality control, and lowering costs. Industry 4.0 also means suppliers are better equipped to offer customized solutions and contribute to a more sustainable automotive industry.
You can bet that Insequence embraces this transformation and will continue to serve as an essential technology conduit between suppliers and their OEMs, making both stronger and more viable down the road.
